About Katherine

Katherine Burns is a creative with a background in community reporting and a fiction writer. She has written about a wide range of topics, including road trips, the adoption industry, staffing and recruiting, small-scale fisheries, restaurants, third places, modern dating and connection, and election-related anxiety. She's passionate about advocacy writing and utilizing her multimedia expertise for social good. Currently, she is based just outside of Boston, MA.

 

Burns graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2021, after studying journalism and English literature. Her career began at Aston Carter, a staffing and recruiting organization. During her tenure, she wrote website content, ad copy, social media copy, and blog articles. She also helped create, edit, and produce the first company podcast, titled “Solver Studio.”

 

Burns is set to graduate with a Master’s degree in journalism from New York University in May 2026. She enrolled in the American Journalism Online Master’s Program in 2022. As she expanded her education, she honed her skills as a writer, video editor, and audio editor.

 

In addition to Burns’s passion for writing and interviewing, she’s also a fiction writer and is studying acting.
